Reflection
I think integrating audio and visuals through screen capture is a great learning tool. It was really fascinating to learn about how using diagrams mixed with some meaningful annotation, instead of perfect typed notes, is shown to improve recall, as it is something I have experienced before. I found that last year even though I would type word for word what the professor said, none of it was really connecting with me. However in some of my labs when I would draw out diagrams and label them, I would remember that information really easily.
Screen Casting
To practice screen casting I took this video:
I hope to teach 3rd-5th grade, and I think this could be a really interesting activity to have students try. I think having students take something they are interested in and teaching it to the class to learn the video editing skills, like we did for our blogs, then have them make a video on something related to the curriculum would be a great way to get students interested in what they are learning, while also building technology skills. I also think being able to make unique interactive videos you could assign for them to watch at home with built in multiple choice questions in it would be a fun way to gauge if the class is understanding of a topic, as well as to get them to watch the videos more critically.
